The judges were the Dabel Brothers. They were handed a stack of screenplays to look over. Brian K. Vaughan has never, to my knowledge, had any relationship with the Dabel Brothers, and certainly was not a judge of that aspect of the competition.

2005's winner was called Gray Malkin's Omen of the Wendigo, and 2006's winner was called Dog Eaters. Dabel ceased sponsoring the expo following 2006.

Dear Sean,
In 2005 Dabel offered a book deal for the top scripts of the Expo - 4 screenwriting contest. Do you remember if Brian K Vaughan was a judge or would have read some of the scripts as a favor to Bill or the Dabels. Hope you have a better memory than me.
Thanks, Spencer
