Figure out what seems like a fair amount to you ($25/page = $550, which is a pretty fair rate at that level) and suggest that. If it&#039;s too much, ask them what they had in mind and see if you can find a happy medium. I would advise not taking money on the backend unless you don&#039;t care if you get paid or not (say, you&#039;re doing it for a friend).

Writers rarely get paid well unless they&#039;re a &quot;name,&quot; even if they&#039;re experienced. &quot;Names&quot; sell books to retailers. Don&#039;t go in expecting much more than a publisher might deliver, and you&#039;ll be fine.</description>

		<description>Dear Sean: I&#039;ve written and published my own comic books in the past, but have now been asked to possibly write a Graphic Novel script for someone else. The publishers, all amateurs, are asking me what my page rate is for writing it from their &quot;idea.&quot; What do you think a fair rate to ask for is? BTW, I&#039;ve also written and optioned 3 other theatrical screenplays + am almost done with a new GN of my own. In other words, I know what I&#039;m doing. What sayest thou?</description>
